We will make a delicious syrup flavoured with seasonal spices. Sea buckthorn fruit is a very rich source of vitamins and minerals especially A, C, E, flavonoids and other bioactive compounds. It is also a good source of essential fatty acids (quite unusual for a fruit).
Please bring along a smallish thoroughly cleaned jam jar (or two as someone is bound to forget!)
What Will this Session Cover?
This 2.5 hour session will be in the GRR co-op container down in the market garden on the farm and will be focused on the process of syrup making and its use in preserving foods. Participants will go home with a bottle of sea buckthorn syrup
Who is this aimed at? Who can come?
This event is aimed at adults, and as we will be in our wee container we will be capping the numbers at 8 places. For these reasons we can’t cater for kids this time. It’s also not possible to bring your dog.
We will be meeting at the community entrance of the farm (the entrance next to the Toby Carvery) and will walk down to the market garden together as a group. Folks with mobility issues can park in the market garden entrance, right next to our container. There is limited room for this, so please get in touch if you would like to park here.
Wear waterproof shoes and weather proof clothes. The 10 minute walk from our meeting point to our kitchen may be very wet underfoot if it has been recently raining.
The majority of our remedy making session will be spent standing next to the kitchen counter, though we will have a few chairs around for folks wanting a sit down.
How Much Should I Pay?
This event is offered on a sliding scale – there is a Regular Price, a Subsidised Price and a Solidarity Price. The Subsidised places are limited to 1 ticket and are offered on a first come first serve basis.
Please pay a price that suits your personal circumstances, we don’t ask for or need any proof of your situation, and trust you to honour the system. We thank you for helping us to increase the accessibility of our workshops.
