As you stroll beneath the oaks in the rambling Country Park, you may find it difficult to believe you are only five miles from the centre of Scotland's capital city.
There's a reason that Dalkeith Country Park is one of the region's most popular country parks - actually, there are dozens.
FORT DOUGLAS ADVENTURE PARK
Calling all young adventurers ~ operation fun awaits at Fort Douglas! Run, slide, fly, climb and explore the most magical adventure playground. Bridges and slides, turreted treehouses, zip wires, rope bridges, climbing walls and tunnels await. Perfect for children up to 12 years, with a toddler play area for under 5s. Let the adventures begin!
RESTORATION YARD
An 18th century stableyard transformed into a Tuscan inspired courtyard with store, restaurant and coffee bar found in the heart of Dalkeith Country Park. We have Fort Douglas for the kids. Adults, this is your playground. Shopping in Restoration Yard is an experience in itself, a place of discovery and treasure trove of so many beautiful things. Our mission isn't to sell you something, but to make you happy, to laugh, to relax and enjoy browsing fashion, homewares, luxury food and drink, kids, books, furniture, beauty and more. Head over to Restoration Yard's website to learn more. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea; bring the family, bring the girls, the boys or hold a meeting. You can even have your wedding here. All flow naturally in the gorgeous glass-walled Coffee Bar, Boudoir and Cafe. You'll find the Coffee Bar right next to the Foodhall located within The Store. It's more informal with self-service and the best coffee, cakes and light bites. Or if you're here for a little longer, head to The Kitchen for waiter service and the most delicious menu, changing seasonally.
Dalkeith Country Park is also home to Dalkeith Palace, which hosts an array of wonderful exhibitions throughout the year. Or for those into their history and architecture, why not join a Palace Tour.
