About Tree Woman Tales
Holly Penfield is a vibrant and talented performer who continues to captivate audiences with her unique blend of music, storytelling, and theatricality. She’s heading to Edinburgh for The Fringe festival this August with her show Tree Woman Tales. Experience her show at the Voodoo Room's Ballroom as part of the FREE FRINGE this summer.
Simon Cowell described her as "David Bowie meets Liza Minelli" and Kate Copstick in The Scotsman said: "She is extraordinary. Everything about her – her voice, her persona. A captivating performer".
Holly Penfield's Tree Woman Tales show features wild anthems, heartfelt ballads, comical confessions and quirky dancing. An energetic performer her songwriting celebrates the beauty of nature, darkness, love and light, through powerful lyrics and storytelling.
From San Francisco, Holly has toured the world playing over 3,000 gigs performing with legendary artists such as Dr John, John Lee Hooker, John Mellencamp and Michael Jackson.
One of the key factors that makes Holly Penfield such a compelling performer is her experience. Over the course of her career, she has honed her craft and developed a deep understanding of music and performance. This is reflected in her music, which is richly textured and layered, with a sense of depth and complexity that only comes from years of practice and exploration.
Penfield has a unique perspective on life, which she brings to her music and performances. Lyrics are infused with wisdom and insight, and she has a gift for storytelling that allows her to connect with audiences on a deeply emotional level. Her songs are often personal and reflective, exploring themes of nature, love, loss, and the passage of time with a depth and nuance that is rare in popular music.
