This ‘Applique a Bouquet’ workshop will show you how to make a beautiful piece of textile art using raw edge fused-applique and free-motion embroidery.

Course description

What’s covered:

Designing a bouquet composition
Creating your fabric collage background
Use the separate elements from your design to cut the individual pieces required
How to fuse each fabric piece to build your composition
Use free-motion embroidery to stitch your bouquet
You can frame your work, hang it as a mini art quilt, or add a back and turn it into a cushion.

Who is Applique a Bouquet aimed at?
Level: Intermediate. You’ll need confident sewing skills and free-motion embroidery experience.

Course arrangements
You will need to bring fabrics for your background and to make your bouquet. You can use purchased fat quarters or even better, use fabric scraps, old clothing or household textiles. Add pieces of lace trim or braid and embellish with hand-stitching, buttons and/or beads. I’ll provide a list of the fabric requirements when you book.

You can bring your own sewing machine or let me know when you book if you need me to prepare one for you to use in the studio. If you are bringing your own, then you’ll need a free-motion embroidery foot, bobbins, instruction manual, and please check that you have your power cable/foot control.

Level: Improvers onwards (Confident sewing machine skills and free-motion embroidery experience required)
