Book Launch: Heiresses – Marriage, Inheritance & Caribbean Slavery
Join acclaimed historian Miranda Kaufmann (Black Tudors: The Untold Story) and Lisa Williams, founder of the Edinburgh Caribbean Association and Black History Walks Edinburgh, for a powerful evening of conversation to celebrate the launch of Miranda’s new book.
Heiresses follows the lives of nine women whose fortunes were built on Caribbean sugar plantations, uncovering their scandalous stories and the enslaved people whose lives were bound to theirs.
In partnership with Lighthouse Books, Miranda will be signing copies of Heiresses after the talk.
The Georgian House will also be open to explore, take one of our Caribbean Connections trails to discover the house’s links to slavery and the wider Caribbean.
Don’t miss a visit to Below Stairs Books, our atmospheric second-hand bookshop tucked away in the historic servants’ quarters.
Doors: 6:00pm | Talk: 6:30–8:00pm
