Tom has 50 minutes to prove that he is up for the job of creating the best album ever… not a small feat for an almost-deaf performer whose most famous talent is growing tumours – in particular, on his ears. Exploring his love of music, taking chances and using those pandemic days, er, very wisely indeed, Tom delves through the song writing process, his love of music and synaesthesia (he sees music as colour) in this wonderful mixture of storytelling, stand-up, music and silliness.
Having been diagnosed over ten years ago with Neurofibromatosis II, an extremely rare genetic condition that causes eventual total loss of hearing, Tom was forced to leave his career in music journalism (he has written for the Daily Telegraph, Guardian and NME), a passion that he still holds close. With the odds stacked against him, he turned to comedy and had hit runs of his musical about hearing loss, quite cunningly called Hearing Loss: The Musical, in the Edinburgh, Perth and Adelaide fringes in 2018/19.
