Make your own, eco-friendly lampshade in a relaxed environment at this workshop run by Joy Revival Design Studio. Come along for a fun afternoon creating a lovely lampshade for yourself or perhaps a gift to give.
The ethos of Joy Revival Design is to create beautiful items that are kind to the planet. This is also the case with the lampshades you will create. All lining materials are environmentally friendly rather than the usual PVC plastic lining, and all fabrics used to cover the lampshades are made from natural fibres. You will create an eco-friendly 20x20cm lampshade.
Fabric for your lampshade is provided. You will get a choice of repurposed vintage fabrics or stunning African wax prints. These are often bold and vibrant, making a gorgeous statement lampshade. If you would like to bring your own fabric, but please get in touch to ensure that we can provide you with advice on recommended fabric types and dimensions.
Suitability: Beginner up, 18+
What we provide: all materials, tea and coffee, soft drinks and snacks.
Workshop Details:
Saturday 6th July 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Instructor: Caroline, Joy Revival Design Studio
Caroline has always loved fabrics, colour and textures. She studied upholstery and the School of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishing in Stirling before setting up her own business making upholstered boxes, lampshades, earings and more - always full of colour and usually using repurposed fabrics.
Living by the sea in Portobello, and walking her dog Lola by the beach daily, her designs are often inspired by the vast ever changing sky and water, from the inky blue and green sea to the rolling hills in the distance and its contrast with the flat ocean (on a calm day!) It can also be the smallest thing that inspires her, from the the patterns the cracks make in the sea wall, or the swirls in the peebles on the beach.
NB: The workshop and toilet of Leith Makers is located on the first floor of the building, up a small flight of stairs. If you have mobility issues, please get in touch before booking to discuss options or alternative arrangements. Please ensure that you read and understand our event terms and conditions before booking.
