Acclaimed Irish poet Jane Clarke's third collection A Change in the Air magnifies unnoticed moments in life that speak of what it is to be human. Change reverberates throughout: a mother's memory loss, a grandmother's enduring influence, untold stories of Irish history, biodiversity destruction and restoration in the Wicklow uplands, same-sex love from prejudice to celebration. There is a calm stillness at the heart of this collection which pays homage to our beautiful, fragile world.
Award-winning Scottish-Canadian poet and translator, Patrick James Errington, shares work from his debut collection, the swailing. Rooted in fire-haunted landscapes that are at once psychological, emotional, and fiercely real, Errington traces the brittle boundaries between presence and absence, keeping and killing, cruelty and tenderness. In these poems human voices whisper through the natural world. Language acts as a controlled burn, preserving, perfecting, or reducing to ash; evoking a profound exploration of grief, memory, and wild wonder.
