Join us for a Georgian Soirée with a Jacobite twist, hosted in the stunning Georgian House in Edinburgh. This event warmly invites you to explore the rich cultural legacy of the Jacobite era through guided tours, live music, and period dancing.
What do a drawing room, a dance tune, and a hidden relic have in common? They all tell the tale of Scotland’s Jacobite legacy - come discover it for yourself!
Programme Highlights
• Jacobite-Themed Experience of the Georgian House
Step into history as our expert guides lead you through the Georgian House, uncovering Jacobite relics and symbolism tucked away in its collections. Discover the stories behind artifacts that whisper of loyalty, rebellion, and political intrigues.
• Jacobite-Themed Dances in the Drawing Room
Glide across the drawing room floor to the sound of live music, as we bring to life the Jacobite-themed tunes found in the Georgian House collection. With fully guided instruction and called dances, everyone is welcome - no experience necessary.
• Light Refreshments
Enjoy light refreshments throughout the evening to keep you energised and ready to step onto the dance floor with ease.
Evening Timetable
Date: November 8th.
Doors Open: 6:30 PM
Activities commence: 7:00 PM
Carriages & Sedan Chairs Depart: No later than 9:30 PM
Dress Code (Optional)
Georgian-inspired attire or tartan touches are warmly encouraged to enhance the atmosphere. Please remember, that by the time the Georgian House was built in 1797, the political fervour of the Jacobite movement had largely faded but its romantic legacy flourished. For a symbolic touch, consider adding a white rose to represent the Jacobite cause - or a splash of orange to nod to the pro-Hanoverian perspective.
