How do we live among a population capable of both the worst atrocities and the profoundest kindness? In Fortress of Evil, former police inspector Melchor Marin's search for his missing daughter sees him enter a labyrinth of characters, both sinister and luminous.
At this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival, Translator Daniel Hahn joins one of Spain's most lauded writers, Javier Cercas, author of the million selling Soldiers of Salamis, to discuss the latest in his ambitious Terra Alta series.
This event is a joint initiative between the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Cervantes Chair at the University of Edinburgh.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
