Duration: 10am - 4:30pm for the conference at University of Edinburgh and from 5pm for the presentation of creative puppetry and drinks at Institut français d’Ecosse.
Following last year’s inaugural Future of French en Écosse conference held at the University of Strathclyde, registration is now open for this year’s event: The Future of French en Écosse: The Way Ahead.
The conference will take place in Edinburgh on Monday 23 June and aims to provide a forum for all stakeholders by offering a place and time for assessing the situation and for building a positive future for French in Scotland, with a specific focus on learner’s voices. It will be followed by a presentation of Creative Puppetry for French toolkit aimed to support the teaching and learning of French language through a creative and play-based practice developed for early years’ educators and teachers and a drinks reception at the Institut français d’Écosse.
Co-organised by SCILT and the University of Strathclyde in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, and supported by the Institut français d’Écosse and the Franco-Scottish Society.
Creative Puppetry for French toolkit
In 2008, Tania Czajka and her brother Olivier created Lapin and his French puppet friends. She then turned her bilingual Lapin stories into accessible picture books and with the support of SCILT developed the Creative Puppetry for Languages approach, based on her stories.
Tania will make a short presentation of the Creative Puppetry for French toolkit she is developing for early years’ educators and teachers.
With this toolkit, Tania’s aim to support the teaching and learning of French language through a creative and play-based practice, in line with Scotland’s play pedagogy. Her stories are accessible to non-French speakers, making the toolkit an inclusive resource for teachers.
