On 12-14 July join us for Drawn & Painterly Approaches to Etching with Robert Powell.

This 3-day course provides the perfect introduction to the medium of etching, focusing on its use as a drawing and painting process.

The course will start with a technical grounding, introducing innovative techniques that encourage spontaneous and diverse methods of mark-making. Working directly onto metal plates, you will develop images through various hand-applied techniques. Using new safer acid resists makes etching a much healthier process, using neither dangerous acids nor solvents.

Following that, you will have time to develop both copper and zinc plates to explore ways of creating images, exploiting their etcherly qualities.
