Emmanuel was originally trained in painting, drawing and sculpture in Switzerland. Later he studied woodwork, metalwork and violin making at the Nottingham University, UK. After a few years in the New York City, Emmanuel relocated to the West coast of Ireland in 2021 and is painting landscapes full time.
'The paintings in To The North are a new way for me to translate a feeling of connectedness to the natural world and to those who have gone before us, whose imprints remain in tales, myths, songs and landscapes. This new body of work is radically different to my previous work which was more traditionally abstract. Connecting the techniques of abstract art with the long lineage of landscape painting allows me to forge a deeper connection with the essentials of life: love, land, animals, wind, the sea and the sky.' - says Emmanuel.
