“Any Body Home emerges from my ongoing research into the entanglements between feminism and the rights of nonhuman animals. The works examine how shared spaces can feel unsafe—unfolding experiences of fear, interdependence, and the position of each body as “given over to another”*.
Moving from reflections on the paralyzing fear of not being safe and the commemoration of victims of violence in shared spaces, the exhibition turns toward imagining a different reality: one in which any body, human and nonhuman alike, is and feels safe anywhere they go.
To embody this perspective of a species-inclusive utopia, I present a body beyond identification: whether based on gender, species, nationality, ability or any other label.
Any Body Home features works developed during the Hugo Burge Foundation x Summerhall residency Art as Activism (2024), along with other pieces exploring related themes.”
