Peruvian Masterclass with Mercedes
Join Mercedes for a culinary journey through Peru as she teaches you how to make a traditional roast chicken dish and a delicious dessert made from butternut squash on Saturday 27th January!
About Peruvian Masterclass with Mercedes
Mercedes hails from Cusco in Peru, once the ancient capital of the Inca empire. Mercedes grew up cooking by her mother’s side and in the masterclass you will learn how to make Pollo a la Brasa (a Peruvian roast chicken dish).
The dish is usually eaten outside of homes in Peru at specialized resturants and eateries. However, it is possible to replicate the flavours at home in a standard oven and Mercedes will show you how. It’s easier than you might think!
There is always room for dessert! You will also be guided on how to make Picarones (Peruvian donuts). A dessert dish which was accidentally created when traditional ingredients used to create bunuelos (fried dough fritters) became expensive and were replaced with squash and sweet potato.
A light lunch is included during the event.

Location:
This event will be taking place at our Flavour and Haver cook school in Leith, a short walk from Leith Walk and Pilrig Park. Accessible through Lothian Buses via Leith Walk, Great Junction Street and Bonnington Road.
