Most of the work in this exhibition consists of a series of monochrome paintings under the umbrella title of ‘Night Walkers.’ The idea for these paintings arrived during lockdown when Graeme Wilcox was using his front room as a temporary studio. Living on a quiet Glasgow street, he became aware of the increased number of people passing by the window – both day and night – taking their daily exercise. Also, out walking himself, he would see people walking in areas normally deserted except for occasional dog walkers.
Graeme is the winner of the Upright Gallery SSA 2022 prize.
Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1993, Graeme has continued to practise as a painter based in WASPS Southblock Studios, Glasgow. He exhibits regularly in solo shows and group exhibitions throughout the UK and Europe.
