About Printmaking into Animation
Every Wednesday from May 3 to July 19, join stop motion animator Emma Dougherty to explore the creative potential of combining printmaking with animation. Each week you will have the opportunity to explore a different combination of printmaking and animation to bring short sequences to life.
In this independent series of classes, participants will try their hand at different printmaking methods, including monoprint, woodcut, linocut, and collagraph. They will then use different animation techniques to bring these prints to life including flip books, stop motion, puppets and phenakistiscopes. All materials and equipment will be provided including animation stations, each with a table top studio complete with laptop, camera, and professional software. After each class, you will be able to take away both your printed artwork and animation. The only thing you need to bring is your enthusiasm and imagination!
