Gilmerton Walled Garden, Gilmerton House, East Lothian, August 2025 — After the resounding success of their last Open Day, Growing Matters, a charity dedicated to cultivating community spirit and environmental stewardship, is thrilled to announce the date for this year's eagerly anticipated event at Gilmerton's Kitchen Walled Garden – Sunday, 7th September, 2025 from 12-4pm. Building on the success of previous years, this event promises to be even enriching afternoon for all attendees.
Guests can enjoy home baking and beverages lovingly prepared by our volunteers. Talks by our resident beekeeper, John, will enlighten audiences on the fascinating world of bees and honey-making, while willow weaving sticks will be available for sale alongside a number of basket exhibits, will all add to the day's diverse offerings.
This year, Growing Matters Open Day will be much the same as last year with the addition of Reiki sessions in the willow dome with Jan Ferguson. There will be a Plant and cut flower stall, Vegetable stall, Jam and preserves, Fruit liqueurs, Tombola, Teas and coffees, Bees and honey and Tours of the garden. Dogs are welcome on leads.
With the support of our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and the local community, once again Growing Matters is poised to make this year's open day an unforgettable experience for all.
