As the global wellness movement continues to redefine modern luxury, today's most discerning travellers should not have to choose between nurturing body and mind and experiencing exceptional travel. This pioneering new service responds to that shift, offering guests an expert, precision-led Pilates workout within the privacy and comfort of their own suite - integrating with The Balmoral's newly elevated wellness offering, following the opening of Irene Forte Spa.
Available exclusively to suite guests, the new 'Reformer to Your Room' service brings studio-quality Pilates into the heart of The Balmoral experience. Working in collaboration with FÔLD, whose mission is built around strength, flexibility and accessibility, the hotel has reimagined in-room wellness, allowing guests to enjoy a private, guided and tailored Pilates session in the comfort and discretion of their own suite.
Each session features a premium FÔLD reformer bed, installed and removed by the hotel team. Designed with Easi-Fold technology, the reformer transforms the suite into a fully functional Pilates studio within moments. Guests may choose to follow FÔLD-official guided programming or book a private session with a qualified instructor, tailoring the experience to their individual wellness goals, schedule, and energy levels.
Designed with wellbeing and safety at its core, this pioneering offering marks The Balmoral as one of only a few luxury hotels globally to introduce a fully functional reformer Pilates experience as an in-room service. Complementing the in-suite experience, The Balmoral's residential spa escape, Serenity in the City, centres on the newly opened Irene Forte Spa, uniting the latest science with Mediterranean traditions. Introducing Irene Forte's philosophy of “natura e scienza” to Edinburgh, the spa blends bio-innovation, clinically proven skincare and Sicilian inspiration in a restorative, results-driven setting.
Facilities include five treatment rooms, a thermal suite, a 15-metre indoor lap pool, a Technogym-equipped gym, a dedicated movement studio, and a Wellness Bar serving nourishing dishes, juices and infusions. Treatments are powered by Irene Forte Skincare, formulated with botanicals from the brand's organic farm in Sicily and enhanced by advanced technologies to deliver visible, non-invasive results suitable for sensitive skin.
Andrew McPherson, General Manager of The Balmoral, comments: “Wellness is becoming integral to everyone's life, and by extension, our guest experience, and our guests should never have to compromise their lifestyles when it comes to luxury. This world-first service reflects our commitment to innovation, discretion, and truly personalised hospitality. We are honoured to welcome FÔLD to the hotel and look forward to continuing our partnership on future wellness innovations.”
Matt Harras, Co-Founder of FÔLD, says: “FÔLD was created to remove barriers to high-quality movement, without compromising on performance or design. Partnering with The Balmoral to deliver an exclusive reformer Pilates experience directly to guests' suites is a perfect expression of that vision. Today's luxury traveller is entitled to wellness adapted to them, their schedule, their privacy and their space. Bringing a fully functional, studio-grade reformer into the suite is a huge step forward for FÔLD's ambitions of setting a global standard when it comes to reformer Pilates.”
The in-room reformer program aligns with the Rocco Forte Hotels Suites & Beyond philosophy, a new programme created exclusively for suite guests. It combines highly personalised service, privileged access to authentic experiences, and beautifully designed spaces that reflect the warmth of family-led hospitality and extraordinary character of each destination. Guided by individuality and care, Suites & Beyond creates special moments, hosted with generosity, making every stay truly memorable.
