Chart topping headliner to perform at Edinburgh University Welcome Week

This September, over 20,000 new students will arrive in Edinburgh and the city will be buzzing with a variety of events to welcome them.
Edinburgh University Students’ Association is pulling out all the stops with some of the biggest events for both the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh University (as part of their partnership with Edinburgh Napier Students’ Association).
One of the week’s highlights is a headline show from Scottish rising star, Calum Bowie. Bowie was named Scottish Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Scottish Music Awards 2024 and in has had a jam-packed summer 2025 touring across the country. Fresh from the TRNSMT main stage, Bowie will headline Hanger 5 in Potterrow on Monday 8th September.
And that’s not the end of the celebrity names in this year line up! After a roof-raising night at the Download festival stage in June, the venue will also be welcoming TV presenter duo Tim & Gendle with their popular game show meets karaoke event: Famous First Words, on Thursday 11th September.
CBBC and Radio 1 legends Hacker T Dog and Katie Thistleton will take to the DJ deck on Saturday 13th September for a night of nostalgic bangers. With an evening of empowerment, epic vocals and non-stop bops, the week will kick off with a standout Chappell Roan tribute night on Saturday 6th September.
