Edinburgh – On Saturday 2nd August, players across Scotland will take to the courts for Padethon 2025, a record-breaking 25-hour marathon of non-stop padel to raise funds for Right To Play UK, a global charity using sport and play to protect, educate and empower children facing adversity.
Now in its sixth edition, the Padethon has grown from a small local initiative at Hatton Sports Club into a major charity event with multiple venues, dozens of volunteers, and over 200 players taking part through the day and night.
This year marks a new milestone:
25 hours of continuous padel – a UK first
Hatton Sports Club, EH27 8EA
Fundraising target: £15,000+ for Right To Play
Live stream coverage throughout the event
Feature events including a South West v North East Exhibition match featuring Scotland's top players, BBQ, and raffle
“Padethon is all about community, challenge, and cause,” says organiser Craig McBride. “We’re thrilled to be supporting Right To Play. Their 25th year of being there for children being very fitting for our aim of 25 hours of continuous play”
This year's event is proudly supported by local sponsors Twedex and The City Nursery, with all profits from food, drink, and merchandise going directly to the charity. Headline raffle prizes include a Málaga padel holiday, donated by Spanish Padel Tours.
Right To Play UK: The Chosen Charity
As Right To Play celebrates 25 years of impact, the Padethon aims to honour that legacy with 25 hours of community-driven play. The funds raised will go toward education and resilience-building programmes for children in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
Right To Play UK Executive Director Gillian McMahon shared:
"Right To Play UK is delighted to partner with The Padethon 2025 - a record-breaking 25-hour marathon of padel and charity fundraising. By taking on this challenge, the players and supporters will raise vital funds and awareness in support of Right To Play's work protecting, educating and empowering children around the world using the power of play. Sport is a key part of Right To Play's global programmes. In some of the world's most challenging contexts, we use sport to help children build their confidence, support their learning and rise above adversity.
“The Padethon is a brilliant example of what happens when sport and purpose come together. We’re honoured to be this year’s charity partner and can’t wait to see the energy and generosity of the padel community in action.”
