Scottish surfing prodigy Ben Larg and elite big wave surfer Andrew Cotton recently demonstrated their skills at Lost Shore Surf Resort, Europe’s largest inland surf destination, located in Ratho near Edinburgh.

Ben Larg, the official ambassador for Lost Shore, made headlines as the first Scottish surfer - and the youngest competitor at just 20 years old - to be invited to the prestigious Nazaré Big Wave Challenge. As part of his ambassadorial role, Ben is actively involved in mentoring programmes and coaching clinics at the resort, helping to inspire the next generation of Scottish surfers.

Joining Ben was Andrew Cotton, one of the UK’s most respected big wave surfers. Known for his pioneering achievements in Ireland and Portugal, Cotton is a professional athlete, adventurer and guest speaker who spends much of the big wave season based in Nazaré and West Ireland.

Their visit highlights Lost Shore’s growing reputation as a premier surf training facility for all abilities. The £60 million resort boasts a state-of-the-art Wavegarden-powered surf lagoon, capable of producing up to 1,000 customisable waves per hour -ideal for both beginners and seasoned professionals.
