Get ready to celebrate the legendary Freddie Mercury with Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh this September. In celebration of Hard Rock International launching their annual celebration of the life and music of the icon, Freddie Mercury, Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh are hosting “Freddie for a Week” from Thursday 5 September 2019 through to Thursday 12 September 2019. As part of the promotion, the cafe will be serving their classic milkshakes with a Freddie twist, running Queen themed competitions on their social channels and selling exclusive merchandise that benefits The Mercury Phoenix Trust, a UK charity created in memory of Freddie Mercury by Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor together with their manager Jim Beach to support the global fight against HIV/AIDS.

During “Freddie for a Week” the Edinburgh restaurant will be serving delicious Freddie’s Moustache Milkshakes. Customers can delve into the perfect after dinner sweet treat which combines bourbon and dark rum with vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate sauce, before being topped with white chocolate whipped cream and an iconic chocolate brownie moustache. The Instagram-worthy milkshake will also be available in a non-alcoholic version for fans of all ages to enjoy and every £1 from each milkshake sold goes to The Mercury Phoenix Trust.

For this annual celebration Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh are also delighted to announce that they have teamed up with Just Eat Cycles, Edinburgh’s Cycle Hire scheme as part of the “Freddie for a Week” event, for a very special collaboration between 5 September and 12 September. During this period people around the capital will be encouraged to take part in Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh’s two social competition’s in order to win a FREE meal at the restaurant!

Just Eat Cycles is a quick and easy way to get around the capital city. The bikes are used as alternative to public transportation for everyday journeys like commuting, getting to places or as a fun way to experience Edinburgh. The bikes can be hired 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. All users need to do is find the closest available bike via the ‘Just Eat Cycles’ app, tap “unlock” when close to a station and the app will direct users to their chosen bike. The bikes can be used for up to 60 minutes at a time and can be returned to any nearby station at any time. The app enables users to find available docks around the city.

Charles Graham from Just Eat Cycles, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh’s “Freddie for a Week” campaign and The Mercury Phoenix Trust. We can’t wait to see how the public get on with these fun challenges, and how inventive they are using our easy to ride bikes.”

The restaurant will be running their ‘I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE’ competition on their Instagram (@hrcedinburgh) and Facebook (@hardrockcafeedinburgh). Participants will be encouraged to take a selfie of themselves in iconic locations around Edinburgh on hired bicycles from Just Eat Cycles, either dressed up in Freddie Mercury outfits or wearing a Freddie moustache. Participants can buy a Freddie moustache from the restaurant merchandise shop for £2, with the full amount from the moustaches being donated The Mercury Phoenix Trust. To be in with a chance of winning a complimentary meal at Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh, entrants must post a selfie on their Instagram or Facebook, tagging Edinburgh Cycle Hire (@cyclehire_edi) and Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh, using the hashtag #FFAW. All participants who take part in the competition and tag the Edinburgh restaurant and Edinburgh Cycle Hire will receive a free 1-hour bike ride pass code (T&C’S apply) with Just Eat Cycles

Alongside this competition, Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh will also be taking to their Instagram (@hrcedinburgh) to describe and hint at a well-known location in Edinburgh via Instagram stories in their ‘I MOUSTACHE YOU A QUESTION’ competition. Customers will be encouraged to cycle to the popular Edinburgh spot they think is being described using the hired bike. Once there, they will be asked to post a ‘selfie’ of themselves wearing the Freddie moustache with the bike on their Instagram feed or story, tagging Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh (@hrcedinburgh), Edinburgh Cycle Hire (@cyclehire_edi) and using the hashtag #FFAW. Entrants who manage to guess the right location will be in the running to win a complimentary meal at Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh!

So, what you waiting for? Grab a Just Eat Cycles bike from a station near you and make sure you’re checking out Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh’s social channels to be in with the chance of winning!
