Radio Clyde and Forth are celebrating as latest combined listening figures* reveal the leading stations are now reaching over one million listeners** every week.
This would see listeners filling both Hampden Park and BT Murrayfield (which have a combined capacity of 119,010) more than eight times!
The figures also highlight the popularity of Clyde 1 which has retained its position as Scotland’s largest commercial radio station. The station has a total of 593,000 listeners - an increase of 52,000 listeners and 1 million listening hours over the past quarter.
Bowie@Breakfast has also extended its lead as the ‘all-radio’ market leading breakfast show in the area with a 17.2% share of all breakfast listening.
George Bowie’s iconic GBX show on a Saturday night now commands an incredible 30.7% share of the total radio audience across the west at that time, an increase from 27.6% during the previous quarter.
Glasgow and the west’s love of football has also ensured that Superscoreboard remains dominant and the weekday evening show between 6pm-8pm has a 24.6% share of the audience.
Forth 1 has also grown its share of the audience with an increase of 53,000 up to 327,000 listeners every week across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife & Falkirk.
The continuing strength of Forth 1’s breakfast show can also be seen with Boogie in the Morning reinforcing its position as the market leader.
The hugely popular breakfast show hosted by Boogie and Arlene boasts 216,000 listeners every week across the east of Scotland, an increase of 25,000 and a 20.7% share of all breakfast radio listening in the area.
Gary Stein, Group Programming Director, Hits Radio Network, said: “Reaching over one million combined listeners every week is a massive achievement and everyone should be very proud of these results. They underline the popularity of our stations and the important role that Radio Clyde and Forth play in their local communities.
“They also demonstrate that we are continuing to deliver what our listeners want across all our shows, from great content and banter from George and Boogie through to the all-important local news, travel and sport.
“Our teams are also focused on tackling the issues which impact on our listeners which has been clearly demonstrated through our hugely successful campaigns such as ‘Lead the Way’ on Clyde 1 and ‘Take the Time’ on Forth 1“.
