CARLOS QUILICI (bandoneon) and MARTIN TESSA (guitar)
Formed as a duo in 2008, they perform, with great authenticity and pure tango flavour, an instrumental repertoire that includes works by the main composers of the genre as well as their own compositions, offering a danceable selection in their performances at milongas.
Both have studied and refined their craft with renowned masters and have extensive careers in the tango scene of Rosario, where they have become prominent figures.
They have recorded a significant number of albums with various projects and also have toured internationally many times.
In addition to being instrumentalists, they are also distinguished as arrangers, conductors, and teachers.
Carlos Quilici:
In 1995, he created and has since directed “Carlos Quilici y su quintet Los Tauras”. Since 2010, he also leads his own tango orchestra “Orquesta de Carlos Quilici”. He has be part of many ensembles, including: Quinteto Camandulaje, Orquesta de la UNR directed by Domingo Federico, and duos with Daniel Turano, Hernán Lugano, Pablo Covacevich, Javier Fioramonto and Rodolfo “Cholo” Montironi. He also regularly accompanies – and has accompanied – many prominent tango singers. He has recorded six albums with Los Tauras, two with his orchestra, one as a soloist, and has participated in many other recordings.
Martín Tessa:
He co-directs and performs with Sebastián Jarupkin in the "Orquesta Utópica". In 2005, together with Javier Martínez Lo Re, he founded the "Rosario Municipal Tango School Orchestra” and later the "Guitar Ensemble" serving as its director and arranger. Since 2008, he has also been part of "Carlos Quilici y su quinteto Los Tauras," the Joel Tortul quartet, and a duo with him. He has also been a member of, among other groups, La Biaba, Camandulaje, Las cuerdas del mas allá, and a duo with Rodolfo "Cholo" Montironi. He also accompanies tango singers. He has recorded albums with Los Tauras, Orquesta Utópica, Cholo Montironi, La Biaba, and others.
Quilici Tessa is part of the Traverse's £1 Ticket Project.
