About Gathering of the Clans Presented By Lost Shore & 50th Celebration of Scottish Surfing
Lost Shore Surf Resort is proud to partner with the Scottish Surfing Federation to host Gathering of the Clans 2025 – the Scottish Inter-Club Surfing Championships – alongside the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Scottish Surfing.
This special weekend marks five decades of Scottish surf culture, competition, and community – bringing together surfers, fans, and the public for two days of exhibitions, live talks, competition, and celebration.
All daytime events are free to attend – everyone’s welcome to come along, watch, and be part of the action.
Friday 28 November | 50 Years of Scottish Surfing Photo Exhibition & Birlinn Ltd Book Launch
12pm – 5pm | Photo Exhibition | Event Studio
Lost Shore is partnering with Staunch Industries, to present an exhibition of Scottish surf photography, showcasing iconic surf spots such as Thurso East and Wardie Bay. Celebrate half a century of Scottish surfing through a stunning photo exhibition featuring work from Scotland’s leading surf photographers.
This is free to attend – simply show up!
6:30pm – 9:30pm | Birlinn Ltd Book Launch | Event Studio
Doors open at 6:30pm with an open bar until 9:30pm. The panel begins at 7:30pm.
In partnership with Birlinn Ltd, Lost Shore will host the first public launch of The View from the Shoulder, followed by a live Q&A with:
Roger Cox – Author
Mark Boyd – Scottish Surfer & Former National Champion
Andy Bennetts – Former Scottish Champion, early Scottish surfer & Ex-President of the SSF

Saturday 29 November 2025 | Gathering of the Clans Surf Competition, Partners Showcase & Ceilidh
8am – 4pm | Surf Competition | Wave Pool & Outdoor Plaza
Watch Scotland’s surf clubs go head-to-head in a day of competition, camaraderie, and coastal spirit. Enjoy the action from our public viewing areas.
Clan teams include 6–8 competitors across the following divisions:
Open Men (2)
Open Women (2)
Boys (1)
Girls (1)
Masters 40+ (1)
Longboard (1)
This is a free to attend public event – simply show up!
9am – 4pm | Event Studio | Partner Showcase
Explore the Scottish Surfing exhibition and meet representatives from across the surf community, including:
RNLI, Water Safety Scotland, Gul, Scottish Surfing Accredited Surf Schools, Surfing Scotland book, The View from the Shoulder, Staunch Industries, and the Scottish Surfing Federation.
This is a free to attend public event – simply show up!
7pm – 11pm | Event Studio | Gathering of the Clans Ceilidh
Round off the celebrations with a lively evening of music and dancing at the Gathering of the Clans Ceilidh, featuring live music from Grouse. Tickets are £27.50 for SSF members and include food with an open bar, with non-member tickets also available. Please contact Scottish Surfing directly to book your place – info@scottishsurfing.scot.
Sunday 30th November 2025 | Lost Shore Festive Party (Launch Night)
Guests are warmly invited to stay on and enjoy Lost Shore’s Festive Party Launch Night, with exclusive preferred rates available for Scottish Surfing members.

The Canteen bar and restaurant will be open throughout the weekend serving delicious food and drinks, and on-site accommodation is available for those who want to stay close to the action.
We can’t wait to see you for a weekend of fun and celebration at Lost Shore!
