The Power of Ska Music
Hailing from Coventry and the surrounding areas, Too Much Too Young is a powerhouse nine-piece band dedicated to celebrating the music and legacy of the 2 Tone movement. With an electrifying live show, they bring to life the sounds of Madness, The Specials, Bad Manners, The Selecter, The Bodysnatchers, The Beat, and more – capturing the raw energy and spirit that made 2 Tone one of the most influential music movements of all time.
2 Tone was more than just music; it was a revolution. Born in the late 1970s, when the UK was gripped by economic struggle and racial tensions, 2 Tone brought together black and white musicians in a bold stand against racism and division. At a time when hate was on the rise, this music stood as a unifying force, blending ska, punk, and reggae into anthems of resistance, unity, and hope. Bands like The Specials and The Selecter used their music to call out injustice, challenge the status quo, and bring people together on the dancefloor – regardless of race or background.
Fast forward to 2025, and the echoes of those hard times are impossible to ignore. With economic hardship, social unrest, and rising divisions once again dominating the headlines, the music of 2 Tone feels more relevant than ever. Too Much Too Young doesn’t just perform these songs – they reignite the fire and passion behind them, reminding us all that music has the power to challenge, to unite, and to inspire change.
