Opera Caledonia comes to Stockbridge Parish Church, Edinburgh from Friday 19th December to Saturday 20th December 2025 to present “Carols by Candlelight” – with four opportunities to enjoy a festive evening of entertainment complete with mince pies and mulled wine for all!
The beautiful surroundings of Stockbridge Parish Church will provide an excellent escape from the cold and the hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers. Join operatic soprano Juliet Montgomery (whose recent engagements include Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park) as she sings her way through everybody’s favourite Christmas carols and songs accompanied by piano. There will even be the opportunity for some (optional) audience participation!
The programme will feature a selection of traditional carols such as “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”, “Silent Night”, “Once In Royal David’s City” and “Away In A Manger” alongside more popular items from everybody’s festive playlist including “White Christmas”, “The Christmas Song” and “Sleigh Ride”.
Juliet Montgomery has performed with Scottish Opera and Opera North and she has been a member of the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company for six seasons. Juliet was a Young Artist in Buxton Opera’s MacBeth and she joined Glyndebourne for their 2022 autumn/winter tour where she performed in La Boheme and concert performances of Mozart’s Requiem. In 2023, Juliet performed in Les Noces with English National Ballet at Sadler’s Wells before appearing in Pagliacci and The Yeomen of the Guard at Opera Holland Park. Juliet’s 2024/2025 season included singing Frasquita in Carmen for Opera on Location, covering Annina in La Traviata at Opera Holland Park and performing in the Chorus for The Merry Widow and A Matter of Misconduct! at Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park. Most recently Juliet sung in Orpheus and Eurydice at the Edinburgh International Festival (Scottish Opera/ Opera Australia), she performed the role of Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana (Occento Choir) and she joined Blackpool Symphony Orchestra for their performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4.
Please note that this event is suitable for children age 4+. All children (under 18yo) must have their own ticket and must be accompanied by a paying adult. It is not possible to transfer tickets between performances. Tickets are non-refundable. Artists and programme are subject to alteration.
