Lost Shore’s monthly film night continues with a screening of the cult classic Lords of Dogtown.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke and starring Heath Ledger and Emile Hirsch, follows the surf and skateboarding trends that originated in Venice, California during the 1970s through the story of the Z-Boys, led by Tony Alva, Jay Adams and Stacey Peralta, pioneer, and writer of the movie.
Before the screening, we’ll also be hosting an evening of free surfskate tasters from residents The SurfSkate Academy, skateboard freeriding on the beachfront and a post-film discussion celebrating the intrinsic relationship between surfing, skateboarding and surfskating. And there’s a special a surf and film package available to purchase too.
Please note, Lords of Dogtown is Rated-15. Those aged under 15 will not be permitted to the screening.
Schedule:
4.00pm – 7.00pm: Free Surfskate and skateboarding tasters & beachfront skateboard freeriding (weather dependant)
4:30pm – 6.00pm: Beginner and improver surf lessons (see below for special Surf & Film package options)
5.00pm – 6.00pm: Cruiser surf session (see below for special Surf & Film package options)
7.30pm – 9.45pm: Lords of Dogtown screening & post show talk
Canteen will be open until 23:00, so feel free to stick around and continue your evening!
Surf & Screening package
Combine both to make the most of the day… and save £20 on your surf! Give surfing a go in the Beginner Lesson, transfer your board skills from surf to skate in the Improver Lesson, or enjoy some chill waves in the Cruiser Session. You’ll have plenty of time to get changed and grab a post-surf bite ahead of the film.
Included: Film ticket and surf lesson or session
Surf Sessions: 4.30pm to 6pm
