Award-Winning Show | Ages 3+ and Curious Grown-Ups
Hot off its 2025 “Keep It Fringe” Award, Roarrr Theatre presents Here Comes Gudong! — a fantastical, cross-cultural adventure for children aged 3+ (and the curious grown-ups).
Venue@ 43 Amphitheatre at theSpace @ Symposium Hall
Join an eccentric crew of mythic animal explorers as they follow the mysterious “Gudong!” rumble across mountains, oceans, and ancient legends. What they discover is as wild, weird, and wonderful as the journey itself.
This is not your average children’s show. Bursting with live puppetry, real-time video, and an electrifying mash-up of Chinese and British folklore, Here Comes Gudong! builds a vivid, theatrical world where cultural boundaries joyfully collide.
“We wanted to create a world where East meets West in the most unexpected ways,” says writer and director Portia Yuran Li. “Think Suzhou silk tangling with Scottish bagpipes. Bronze chimes clashing with Victorian gears. Jingwei myth meets Loch Ness Monster. It’s myth-meets-machinery mayhem!”
The show also champions eco-conscious design — from handmade puppets to repurposed sets — proving that imagination is the most powerful tool we have.
Expect adventure, laughter, and a big, booming Gudong! that echoes long after the show ends.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
