Looking for a new outdoors activity? Something that's family friendly and gets the kids outside, or that will give you a different type of exercise with a bit of mental challenge too? Want to explore new places? Then orienteering is for you!
Come along and try it with Interlopers Orienteering Club at the Heriot-Watt campus, on the afternoon of Saturday 7 June, anytime 1.30-3pm (courses close at 4pm). Entries are now open. Starts from 1.30-3; registration from 1pm and courses close at 4pm.
Orienteering is an adventure sport that exercises both body and mind. Using a map, the aim is to find the best way round a set of check-points. You choose whether to run or walk.
Compete with others or just enjoy the challenge of navigating round your course and exploring. Run, jog or walk; participate as an individual, pair of family. It’s a lot of fun for all ages and abilities.
The Heriot-Watt campus is literally a world-class area for orienteering: it was one of the venues in last summer’s exciting World Orienteering Championships held in Edinburgh. Come and orienteer in the footsteps of international elite athletes!
There’s something for everyone at this event, whether complete beginners or experienced competitors. We’re putting on a wide range of courses of different lengths and challenge, including shorter and easier options for children and families. There’s also a longer-easier course that’s ideal for adult newcomers who want a bit more distance for their run or walk.
Everyone very welcome, whether experienced, improving or complete beginners – there will be plenty of club volunteers around to help you get started.
See our website for full details.
Enter via RaceSignUp – sign up by midnight on 2 June to guarantee a map; some entry on the day subject to map availability (first-come-first-served).
