Though a lesser-known work by one of history's finest composers, Handel is nonetheless at the height of his powers in this exciting musical re-telling of the fall of Babylon.
The work is known for its immense breadth of styles and masterly command of emotion. As the story unfolds, we hear grand fugues, solemn arias, and even a Babylonian drinking song. Adding to the drama is the full cohort of the Edinburgh Bach Society Orchestra, complete with timpani, brass and strings. Also featuring will be some of Edinburgh's most formidable vocal soloists, including Leah Katherine Shaw and Jerome Knox. It promises to be a captivating evening!
