About Rebecca Vasmant Ensemble
Award-winning DJ, producer, label head and broadcaster Rebecca Vasmant stands at the helm of Glasgow’s expanding jazz scene. Vasmant’s forthcoming album Who We Are, Becoming (2025), further cements her as a leading figure in UK jazz, released via a new partnership between New Soil and Women In Jazz.
With an EP (Dance Yourself Free, 2022) and album (With Love, From Glasgow, 2021) already under her belt, Vasmant has established herself as a dynamic bandleader; writing, arranging, recording and producing all music herself. Her production prowess also extends to remixes for the likes of Allysha Joy, TC and the Groove Family, Scrimshire and Emma-Jean Thackray.
Vasmant’s band have performed at some of Europe’s most renowned festivals and venues, including We Out Here (UK), XJazz Festival (Berlin), Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club (London). As a DJ, Vasmant has performed at highly-revered venues including KOKO (London), The Room (Tokyo) and Tresor (Berlin); alongside festivals Dekmantel and Glastonbury. She’s also a resident of Glasgow’s Sub Club—where she first met and warmed up for longtime supporter, Gilles Peterson.
Vasmant founded Rebecca’s Records in 2021 as a vessel for spotlighting Scottish talent. That cheerleading also extends to broadcasting; as a host she’s appeared on BBC Scotland, Worldwide FM, JazzFM and Tokyo’s J-Wave.
