Showcasing original seacsape art by new artist, Wendy Sara
Salty: Bodies of Water features a diverse collection of textural and atmospheric paintings inspired by Scotland's unique landscape; invoking a sense of much-needed peace and tranquillity in these turbulent times.
The ever-changing Scottish coastline can take us from dramatic grey crashing waves, jagged cliffs and secluded bays, to open stretches of idyllic white sand and clear turquoise ocean; all within the space of one day and a few miles.
Wendy Sara has a profound connection to Scotland's bodies of water, and finds solace near any of the multitude of beaches or loch-sides. This connection fuels her ability to capture the numerous textures, moods and colours of her homeland.
Light and texture are central features in Wendy's work. Thick layers of acrylic paint and dynamic brushstrokes bring to life a variety of scenes, be that a soft morning haze over a loch, moonlit waters, a dramatic reflected sunset, or light breaking through storm clouds over the ocean.
Proudly from a working class background, and self-taught, Wendy is a passionate believer that art is for everyone. After spending decades as a full-time office worker, she discovered painting and a career in the arts later in life, and encourages anyone who will listen to find their own creative niche and have fun with it.
Wendy has priced her paintings on ready to hang canvases from £100; and with that hopes to encourage along those who have never before owned an original work, along with of course seasoned collectors and everyone in-between.
Two of Wendy's artworks are currently exhibited by Colinton Arts.
Together with Hameish Arts who will be providing maritime poetry and audio, Wendy hopes to transport you from Edinburgh's New Town to your favourite stretch of Scottish coastline.
