The Edinburgh Running Network LP RUN is back!
We’re delighted to be returning to Meadowmill Sports Centre, near Tranent at 11am on Sunday 4th August 2024..
ERN is one of the friendliest running clubs in Scotland and we welcome entries from runners of all abilities. Not everyone has had the chance to run on a track, it is a great experience and no matter how fast or slow you are, everyone is in it together and invited for tea and cake afterwards.
Our run is based on the oldest race in Houston, Texas, which has been going for over 50 years. For the download generation here is a short explanation of the format, which to be honest doesn’t clarify much but hopefully you get the picture…
When the music starts, you have 33.3 minutes to run as many laps of the track as you can (33.3 revolutions per minute being the speed of a 12” Long Play vinyl record). The music is selected by the entrants, making a unique soundtrack for each LP Run.
When you enter you are asked to nominate a tune you'd like to hear during the run.
Every entrant will receive a medal, and we have prizes for the top finishers and other spot awards.
There will also be 100m and 400m juniors races starting at 10.30am, no need to register in advance just join in on the day. The whole family can get involved and go home with a coveted biscuit medal.
After the running is done, it’s time for tea, coffee and cakes. Please join in and bring along some baking. All savouries and sweets welcome, it doesn't have to be perfect, just tasty. For some, the hottest competition of the day is for star baker! (Adult and junior prizes)
The 2024 LP Run is in aid of Empty Kitchens Full Hearts (registered charity SCO51638), who "aim to relieve poverty in Edinburgh by providing meals - made using surplus food - and follow-up support to people across the city, free of charge, and without judgement.” All profits from the event and donations on the day will go towards their activities
As this is a charity event no refunds will be given.
The ERN LP Run is a Scottish Athletics Track and Field Permit Event held under UK Athletics Rules.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
