See behind the scenes and follow in the footsteps of some of history’s most famous Surgeons and visit our world-famous library. Here you will have the chance to view collections from one of the oldest and most comprehensive collection of medical documentation.
Wander into our historic pathology galleries where past surgeons expanded their knowledge and undertook College exams.
Can you catalogue like a Curator? Would you know how to operate a tooth key? Have you heard of the No Nose Club? Throughout the evening our specialists will be on hand to discuss our collections and offer the opportunity for you to enjoy hands on activities. There will also be a series of micro talks throughout the evening where our team will highlight a range of subjects from air pollution to women in medicine.
We will be joined by pathologists from the Royal infirmary who will be chatting about our historical collection in relation to current practices in their field, as well as, our Human Remains Conservator who will discuss the history of syphilis, the affects it could have on the body, the quack cures that could be equally damaging – and how this disease is making a comeback today.
There will be a cash bar and an area to relax during your visit but please be aware that we do not have cloak room facilities.
Doors open at 7pm
Age Restriction: Age 18+
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
