Mare Music presents a special double headline show from Amateur Cult and Dragged Up
Based along the Firth of Forth coast, Amateur Cult announced himself in 2022 with the debut album ‘The Mirrored Pattern’, creating a unique take on post punk and electronica, embracing stark atmospherics, and emphatic darkwave rhythms, receiving praise from BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq, The Herald Scotland, Keep It Fast, Snack Mag and Is This Music?
"Pure, emphatic, and intense; Amateur Cult just shakes you up. Everything about it is relentless" - Rave Child
Supplementing his sound with a live band featuring members of Acidsaurus Bong and the experimental sounds of saxophonist Andrew J. Brooks, Amateur Cult returns with new synth rock meets art punk single, ‘Eyes’.
Joining Amateur Cult for this special double show feature at Summerhall is Glasgow’s Dragged Up, whose cross-pollination of psych, proto-punk, garage and spoken word, has seen them put out acclaimed EP ‘Hex Domestic’ on Cruel Nature Records and paranoiac disco single Missing Person on Rare Vitamin:
“One of our favourite discoveries of last year … It’s thrilling stuff. They keep surprising and keep delivering and it’s more than apparent that this Glasgow five-piece have a lot to offer with their disparate DIY sound.” – Compulsion Online
Their new album 'High On Ripple' is available now to pre-order on vinyl from
https://draggedup.bandcamp.com/ and on limited cassette edition from Cruel Nature Records cruelnaturerecordings.bandcamp.com/
Support also comes from artist and musician Sam Wood.
