Life after Boarding School: The long term impact

About Life after Boarding School: The long term impact

If you, or anyone you know, went to boarding school then would you please let them know of this event that’s taking place in early March in Edinburgh?

This is a structured discussion strictly for ex-boarders and therapists to illustrate what happens when children are sent away to boarding school. Whilst a few may ‘love it’, the vast majority never talk about their experiences, their feelings and the stuff that they witnessed - even if they opt to seek therapy.

This event has been carefully crafted to show how the children had to grow up prematurely and demonstrate how and why they may struggle in their twenties and again in the middle years. It helps make the invisible visible.

Location: Inch Community Education Centre, Inch House, 225 Gilmerton Road, Edinburgh EH16 5UF.

Led by an-boarder, each topic is most likely to have the now-adult exclaiming “I thought I was the only one!”. As we build through the layers of the reality of life in boarding school, it enables the therapists ‘see’ the experiences through the boarding child’s eyes.

“It feels like a weight has been lifted!” (Ex-boarder from last event)

“This workshop has proven invaluable in my work,” (Therapist from first event).
