The historical dance ball takes us back in time to the Enlightened Edinburgh of the early 18th century!
Through demonstration and lively and engaging workshops, attendees will be invited to learn the most popular dances of the 18th Century, including the Minuet and Sarabande. Music for this event is provided by award-winning pianist Matthew Shiel who will perform the enchanting keyboard dance suites of Johann Sebastian Bach live.
Please note: this event is suitable for beginners and children - you don't need any dance experience or historical dress.
This is a unique opportunity to experience musical heritage through dance, socialise with the local community, feel inspired and, most importantly - have fun!
Please note: attendees should register in advance on Eventbrite: edinburghdanceball.eventbrite.co.uk
This afternoon event is a collaboration between Dr Alena Shmakova (Leader: Les Dances Antiques) and concert pianist and conductor of the Edinburgh Philharmonic Orchestra, Matthew Shiel.
