About The Oil Machine at TMP: Screening + Discussion

The Oil Machine at TMP: Screening + Discussion

TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE

The Scottish documentary film THE OIL MACHINE explores our economic, historical and emotional entanglement with fossil fuels by looking at the conflicting imperatives around North Sea oil & gas. This invisible machine at the core of our economy and society now faces an uncertain future as activists and investors demand change.

THE OIL MACHINE brings together a wide range of voices from oil company executives, economists, young activists, workers, scientists, and pension fund managers. It considers how this machine can be tamed, dismantled, or repurposed.

Since the film’s UK-wide launch in November, TMP members at Film & Campaign Ltd. have been running an impact campaign around the film and enabled nearly 200 UK events to date. Join us at The Melting Pot for an evening of learning and discussing how to tackle one of the biggest challenges that humankind is facing today.

What to expect:

Screening of the film The Oil Machine.
Short presentation of the impact campaign’s core challenges, solutions, and successes
Discussion and Q&A with the filmmakers, the campaign organisers, and local Edinburgh groups.
Networking with like-minded people concerned about how to get organised in the face of the threats our planet faces.
Nibbles and refreshments.
Speakers:

Sonja Henrici, Producer of The Oil Machine, likely joined by Emma Davie, the film’s Director
Ben Kempas (Film & Campaign Ltd.), Impact Campaign Strategist for the film and long-time member of The Melting Pot
Heloysa Fyfe, Community Hub Coordinator at SHRUB Cop
Jessica Gaitan Johannesson, Digital Campaigns Manager at Lighthouse - Edinburgh's Radical Bookshop and organiser with Climate Camp Scotland
