Saxophonist Martin Kershaw and guitarist Graeme Stephen are leading players on the Scottish jazz scene. Founders of the popular Playtime sessions, of which this is the latest instalment, they have worked together and separately on innumerable, consistently excellent projects.
Kershaw is a regular in the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and has premiered his own works inspired by visual art and literature for medium-sized ensembles as well as featuring in both forward-looking groups, including Trianglehead, and bands celebrating the jazz tradition such as Mercy Mercy Mercy, in tribute to Cannonball Adderley.
Stephen's talent for assimilating music from myriad sources into a guitar style that is entirely is own has been showcased on his own albums, such as Vantage Points, and in a series of live soundtracks for classic films. He has recently guested with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and works regularly with his partner, Romanian-born singer-songwriter Lizabett Russo,
Together, Kershaw and Stephen will play a hand-picked selection of evergreen standards and contemporary jazz classics.
