Community members, stakeholders, elected representatives, and members of the public are invited to this special event on the occasion of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) History Month 2023.
This is an informal 'come as you please' event aiming to celebrate and recognise the work and culture of Gypsy/Traveller and Roma communities and national and local partners. It will be a chance to come together to collectively stand against racism and prejudice, showing solidarity with the diverse Gypsy/Traveller and Roma communities we are lucky to have in Scotland. You will also be able to learn about the history and culture of the community, view art and take part in various fun activities like learning the Nawken language. Stakeholders and community members will showcase their work throughout the day.
Please note that you do not have to stay for the full event - you can come for as long as you wish. The Minister for Equalities, Emma Roddick MSP, along with COSLA’s Community Wellbeing Spokesperson, Cllr Maureen Chalmers, will be opening the event.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch: Race-Equality-Team@gov.scot
