Spider-man has had his identity revealed to the world, so how can he keep fighting crime and performing heroic feats of derring-do? Enter Doctor Strange to open up the potential of an extended meta-verse, in which multiple variations on the Spidey hero come into being. Jon Watts bold live action take on the Spider-verse was one of the most successful films of the Covid-era and managed to draw in the kind of critical adulation that has been lacking from many of the recent Marvel movies.
