The current period is extremely difficult for MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians) for two reasons:
Firstly, increased levels of violence in Israel and Palestine have placed an unprecedented strain on the medical charity. MAP’s ambulance crews and medics have also been targeted.
Secondly, the world’s eyes are turned to Ukraine. Most high-profile fund-raising events are aimed at supporting their effort to stop the Russian invasion.
As a result, just when MAP need support more than ever, very little is coming in.
Fiddler Aidan O’Rourke, piper Brighde Chaimbeul, Saxophonist Tommy Smith and Palestinian dancer Nada Shawa come together for a concert in St Mary’s Cathedral on May 13th as a closing event for a week of Palestinian activities.
Please attend and, if you are unable to, please make a donation. MAP are short of even the most basic supplies including swabs and surgical gloves. Every penny will count.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
