Tales, Tongues and Trails

Deafblind Scotland launches an important new video, featuring deafblind people sharing their experiences. Participants have been guided by storyteller Anne Dignan and poet Andrew Pettigrew, both of whom are deafblind. Through their stories, they explore their right to be recognised as a unique community, included in all aspects of society – one of the rights laid out in the Scottish Deafblind community’s new Manifesto of Rights. The purpose of the video is to empower the deafblind community, while challenging stereotypes and reducing social distance – the biggest barriers to inclusion.

Part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2022, Tales, Tongues and Trails is a celebration of regional and international language, landscape and identities for Scotland's Year of Stories.
