Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack) is a young male sex worker who is hired by Nancy (Emma Thompson), a middle-aged woman who has never been able to have an orgasm. Tasked with offering Nancy a full sensual experience, Leo ends up returning again and again to try and fulfil Nancy's desires and wants. Over the course of each meeting more gets revealed about each half of this odd couple, in a refreshing gender reversal of the 1970s sex farces it is loosely modelled on. Dwelling upon themes of body positivity, ageing and gender roles within sex play and sexual performance, Sophie Hyde (52 Tuesdays, Animals) has crafted a warm and engaging film that is not afraid to ask difficult questions about what we are really talking about when we talk about sex.
Notes: (15) strong sex references, sex and bad language
