Playtime is delighted to welcome Elie Afif to present a selection of handpicked standards and jazz classics, with Martin Kershaw, Graeme Stephen and Tom Bancroft on 8th September at The Outhouse!
About Playtime with Elie Afif
Growing up in Beirut, Elie Afif quickly became one of the most sought-after bass players in the Middle East region.
He then attended The Collective School of Music in New York in 2012 as a scholarship student. It was here that he was quickly exposed to the New York scene, learning a tremendous amount from great players including Ron Carter, Matt Garrison, Ari Hoenig, Eric McPherson and Ian Foreman.
Elie has performed with many great artists including Rene Mclean, Bobby Durham, Dwight Dickerson, Bobby McFerrin, Mike Stern, Jerome Sabbagh, Ranjit Barot, Zakir Hussein, Tarek Yamani, Anthony Wonsey and A. R. Rahman.
Elie appears on the following albums:
Giant Steps to Heaven (Elie Afif); Peninsular (Tarek Yamani Trio); Bada Boom (Ranjit Barot); A.R Rahman MTV Unplugged Season 2; LULU (Kamal Musallam); House Root (Adam Hersh) and Passport (Omar Rahbani).
He is now based in Scotland, and we are delighted to welcome him to Playtime to present a selection of handpicked standards and jazz classics, with Martin Kershaw (saxes), Graeme Stephen (guitar) and Tom Bancroft (drums).
