This year is the 150th anniversary of a journey led by Edinburgh’s own Charles Wyville Thomson, that led to not only to the beginnings of a whole new field of science, but to a string of discoveries that would change how we viewed our world forever. The Challenger expedition brought to light the rich variety of life in the deep sea; join us and witness their discoveries as we reveal the gorgeous illustrations of the original journey reports in our stunning new photo exhibition.
This exhibition is part of Dynamic Earth’s Discover the Deep project that has received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players.
