About caroline
caroline are an 8-piece group from London exploring the possibilities of brevity within a large ensemble.
Formed as a result of improvisation sessions from members with backgrounds in a range of musics that value the capacity for space be an integral part of the whole sound, the group coalesced the strands of created pieces into careful, deliberate songs that slowly stretch out and modulate at differing rates. Precise, yet loose, the group nonchalantly yaw from soft repetition to scratchy free-for-all, whilst retaining a very distinct and unique identity.
Forthcoming eponymous debut album, released in Feb '22 on Rough Trade, is a collection of sublimely opposing elements of forcefulness and fragility that create emotive atmospherics to engulf and enthral.
