Edinburgh Science Festival: Exploring Edinburgh’s Volcano

About Edinburgh Science Festival: Exploring Edinburgh’s Volcano

Long before the dinosaurs, Edinburgh was part of a ‘ring of fire’ like the one that now circles the Pacific Ocean, with volcanoes emerging from a shallow tropical sea. Take a walk around Holyrood Park and explore the evidence for these ancient volcanoes and how the geology still shapes the city and landscape we see today. This self-guided walking tour was created by the University of Edinburgh.

The tour for older age groups can be accessed at https://arcg.is/1OPvCK

The tour for younger ages can be accessed at https://arcg.is/1KPG5y

You will need a GPS enabled device to complete it - a smartphone, tablet or similar. It will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete.
